Jim Webb Drops Out of Democratic Presidential Race Following CNN Debate, 'SNL' Parody

Well, folks, there were once five Democratic presidential candidates, and now there are four—unless Joe Biden decides to run, then there will be five again. Anyway, Jim Webb – you remember that guy who told the world he killed somebody at the debate? – has announced that he's officially dropping out of the presidential race. Which is a bummer because we were really hoping Alec Baldwin would continue to play him on Saturday Night Live.

Anyway, CNN reports that Webb made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon before the National Press Club in Washington. He noted that the Democratic Party he once considered himself to be a part of has separated itself from Americans all over the country. Because of this, he has decided to withdraw his name from the Democratic Party's presidential bid.

Webb claimed, "The very nature of our democracy is under siege due to the power structure and the money that finances both political parties," further adding that it is indeed time "for a new Declaration of Independence."

Gawker earlier reported that Webb "may or may not" run as an independent. Per his conference, however, the politician is still merely considering it. He'll be spending "the next couple of weeks" thinking and mulling the idea over with others in order to make the decision.

Of course, who knows if that will make a difference.
