Yesterday was a great day for hip-hop on late night television. First, Tyler, the Creator dropped a new track on Jimmy Fallon then, Kendrick Lamar stopped off at David Letterman's place to perform an awesome rendition of his hit single "Poetic Justice."

It was the second show of the night for Lamar, as he had performed earlier in the evening in front of a sell-out crowd at New York's Roseland Ballroom.Check out the video below:

The third single off of Lamar's critically and commercially successful good kid, M.A.A.D. City sounds particularly nice with the Late Show's full band providing the backing track, giving the Janet Jackson-sampling ode to summer love a warmth that isn't present on the album version.

And I'm not the only one who liked it. Terrace Martin, saxophonist for the Late Show house band, tweeted the following after the performance.

"Love goes out to my bro @kendricklamar I'm always happy to play live with him. He brings out the best in everyone!"

What do you think? Did you like Kendrick Lamar's performance on the Late Show with David Letterman? Or is it just not your thing?
