Katy Perry Makeup Artist Jake Bailey Dead in Apparent Suicide

Katy Perry's friend and celebrity make-up artist, Jake Bailey, died on Friday at the age of 37. CNN reported that Bailey was found unresponsive at his home in Los Angeles by a friend in an apparent suicide by carbon monoxide and eventually declared dead. A full autopsy report is pending, says Ed Winter, with the Los Angeles County coroners office.

The well-connected make up artist was represented by Starworks Artists who has released a statement saying,"It is with deep sadness that we share the news of Jake Bailey's passing. He was an undeniable talent, a great friend, a loving son and brother, and our grief is shared with all those whose lives he's touched. He collaborated with some of the top photographers in the fashion and entertainment industries and was also a passionate photographer himself. Jake was a mentor to many, and his work will continue to inspire. He will be truly missed by those who knew him."

Perry wrote a long tribute to her dear friend on Instagram and reference some of their historical moments while working together.

People published the singer's tribute in its entirety. She wrote on Instagram, "Jake- My sweet, sensitive soul."

She continued, "What a wonderful journey and friendship we had together. What beautiful art we created together. We conquered the world's biggest stages, together," and added, "I know you felt life so intensely and it created this incredible artistic passion in you that came out in everything you touched, from the amazing images you took to the ways you painted your muses, highlighting the beauty in everyone. You had the most otherworldly eye for detail."

His work appeared in publications including Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Vogue Italia, Vanity Fair and Allure, in  addition to magazine spreads, cover shoots, commercials, music videos, shows, red carpet appearances and Katy Perry's Super Bowl Halftime Show Performance 2015. The talented make-up artist beat the faces of many celebrities including Paris Hilton, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Emmy Rossman, Octavia Spencer and Pretty Little Liars' Ashley Benson.

He will be missed.
