Jon Stewart Talks Opening a Farm Sanctuary with Wife Tracey Following ‘Daily Show’ Retirement

Fresh off his recent retirement from Comedy Central's The Daily Show, comedian Jon Stewart is setting his focus elsewhere – opening a farm sanctuary for rescued animals with his wife, Tracey.

Both Stewart and his wife were reportedly in New York City this past weekend – after famously moving across the Hudson River back over to his native land of New Jersey – during a gala for Farm Sanctuary, a nonprofit organization that focuses on animal rights.

Admitting his discomfort, Stewart told those in attendance that he's "spent the last 20 years immersed in the world of Washington politics and the media landscape" and he is rather uncertain as to how to deal with "people who have empathy," according to Mic.

While Stewart is undoubtedly concerned with animal rights, it's his wife who has been known to do much work within the industry. The New York Times profiled her work and what she's done for animal rights. Furthermore, a book was recently released, written by Tracey, titled Do Unto Animals: A Friendly Guide to How Animals Live, and How We Can Make Their Lives Better.

Per a press release from Farm Sanctuary, the comedian's wife details the importance of interacting with animals, and further calls the experience "life-changing."

"A trip to Farm Sanctuary should be on everyone's to-do list," she says, adding, "but you can also bring a little bit of sanctuary home when you sponsor an animal through the Adopt a Farm Animal Program."

Farm Sanctuary kicked off back in 1986 and is currently operated out of New York, Los Angeles and Orland, California.

Additionally, CBS This Morning recently aired a small piece which showcased Stewart's new life in New Jersey. A bearded, less politically discussed version of the Daily Show host we once knew appeared in ways we hadn't really seen him before.

You know, relaxed, well-rested and, sincerely, at peace.
