After the success of the Legally Blonde movies and Broadway musical, Reese Witherspoon would love to take another turn at being her fun-loving and unexpected heroine character, Elle Woods. On Fashionably Late with Rachel Zoe, Witherspoon answered a fan's question about the possibility of a new Legally Blonde film being made and tied it in to politics.  She answered, "I think we're ready to see Elle and see what she's up to lately."  With women like Hillary Clinton throwing the hat into the political ring these days, she believes it's time that a character like Elle take on another venture that goes against society's expectations.

"A lot of writers over the years have come up with different ideas for it," she continued. "I actually think it's kind of great right now because we're talking about women in politics and how important that is to get more women. And I think it'd be kind of a cool thing to have her be a Supreme Court justice or someone who runs for office."

The first Legally Blonde film was released in 2001, where Witherspoon played high maintenance sorority girl turned lawyer in the film. The film spawned a sequel two years later and a Broadway musical in 2007; the straight to DVD sequel, Legally Blondes premiered in 2009. Memorable scenes include Elle's poolside video for law school and her unforgettable lesson in flirting called the "bend and snap."

The Legally Blonde actress is currently developing a mystery series for ABC. Witherspoon will executive produce the untitled series alongside her Pacific Standard production company partner Bruna Papandrea. Rob Long, who has written the script, will also executive produce and Lord of the Rings producer Rick Porras will round out the team.

The series will follow a billionaire who is acquitted of all charges for the murder of his wife, his lover and the female detective who almost caught him.
