Actor Jerry O'Connell knows the wrath of both Scientology and Tom Cruise, because he's been hiding from them for years! Okay, no, not really, but O'Connell did once do a parody of Cruise's famed interview about the religion with the guys over at Funny or Die, and it appears it's with him to this very day. You see, O'Connell recently admitted that after having done the parody, he once saw Cruise at an event and hid from him until it was safe to leave. The actor's admission comes after Cruise was also the topic of discussion by actress Leah Remini in a clip from her new interview with ABC News.

In the interview with ABC, Remini admits that if you are a person who criticizes Tom Cruise, then in the eyes of the religion you are also criticizing Scientology. "You are evil," she says.

Us magazine reports that O'Connell revealed the info during the Allegedly with Theo Von and Matthew Cole Weiss podcast. He joked, "I saw him at one event, and I hid. I had to be at the event. I hid for as long as I could. When it was time to disperse, I literally was the first at valet."

The bit ran on Funny or Die back in 2008, and even today O'Connell admits that he will often avoid Cruise, but, per the publication, "doesn't believe there would be a confrontation," should the two actually ever meet.

Here's a clip from O'Connell's interview:

Us further reports that O'Connell admits that it was a "rude" thing to do.

"I know I'm going to be followed and I watched that documentary [HBO's Going Clear]," he joked.

Moreover, the 41-year-old actor claimed that the Church is a "weird place" and isn't sure if the religion is in his "wheelhouse."

Which, well, is probably a good thing—especially after he made fun of their most profitable admired name.
