‘Weird Al’ Yankovic Press Conference Parody: ‘Mandatory Fun’ Singer Mocks Postgame Interviews

Who knew all postgame interviews were so, well, predictable? Parody singer "Weird Al" Yankovic recently paired up with the one and only The Kicker to prove just that by creating the below parody of the typical, standard and yes, boring, press conferences that occur just after pretty much any sporting event. And perhaps the most shocking part? We've never seen the Mandatory Fun singer with short hair!

Or maybe it's just tied back. Ah, who cares?

Anyway, the parody kicks off with Yankovic as the "Grizzled Coach" sitting down with his "Star Player" and "Bench Player (Who Had a Surprisingly Good Game)" as they prep to take on the redundant hard-hitting questions from the reporters before them.

Together, the trio is met by a number of journalists in the crowd: the blogger looking to get his quote, the local news reporter who lives for the team, the over-aggressive east coast journalist, and of course, that attractive reporter who works for a major publication.

Together, the group manages to deliver lines and subjects that occur in EVERY. SINGLE. PRESS CONFERENCE.

Looking at the video further, each detail is intelligently put together, even outside of the dialogue. From the sponsorship names in the back to the team name on Weird Al's sweatshirt, and even the initial height of the Bench Player's microphone, the video seems like a total win for The Kicker.

So, folks, what's more interesting: watching the above video, or actually having to sit through a real postgame press conference?

In related Weird Al news, back when the singer released his newest album, Mandatory Fun, our sister site interviewed him about the release. Check out our interview with Weird Al Yankovic over on Music Times.
