The father of the 10-year-old Nebraska boy, Peter Asumani who tried to save his life after falling in their home has died. Sunday, 45-year-old Bienvenu Asumani died from unknown conditions according to a court petition filed Monday.

A Lincoln investigator visited the home on Friday after a principal reported the boy was absent about four days of school. In a police affidavit the young boy said that his father fell and struck his head on a wet floor a week before his death. The young boy says that he took care of his father by giving him fluids and food. When authorities responded to the home, EMS took the child's father to the hospital. The father's eyes were open, but he was unresponsive to any questions that authorities asked him.

Russ Reno, a spokesman, for the Nebraska Health and Human Services Department said the boy was taken into state custody. The young child's mother is currently in Africa, but has relatives living in Arizona.
