Gladiators, I can imagine that you're still trying to digest last night's finale. In Scandal's Episode 9, "Baby, Its Cold Outside" the gloves came off. While America is finally starting to accept the relationship of President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn) and his mistress turned girlfriend Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington), Olivia is struggling to come to grips with her new situation.

Things in the White House seem to be running like a well-oiled machine since Olivia has been moved in. In true Olivia fashion, things are falling into place and that's because Olivia has used her crisis-management background and her new status as the president's leading lady and merged them into one.

David Rosen (Joshua Malina) is completely smitten with the dragon-lady herself, Elizabeth North (Portia De Rossi), and decides to give her a token of his affection, a gold bracelet. Elizabeth respectfully declines the gesture and later sees the bracelet on Susan Ross (Artemis Pebdani). It's kind of weird, but very interesting.

Huck (Guillermo Diaz) takes Rowan (Joe Morton) hostage and in true Rowan fashion he hits Huck below the belt with one of his infamous monologues and things clearly go left. Huck hits Rowan with the reality that everything Olivia is going through is his entire fault. Rowan acts like Huck is his son and he is reminded that his actions have shown that he is no one father.

Mellie Fitzgerald (Bellamy Young) is determined to have her voice heard and stand up for what she believes is right. Because she can't vote for a Planned Parenthood bill without discretionary funding what does she do? Mellie decides to do a filibuster. Unfortunately for her, she cant leave the podium to eat or go to the bathroom. After many hours of torture, Mellie's in a battle with her bladder. She handles business and is greeted with an unexpected gift from the last person she expects. Olivia was behind her bathroom break and serves as a voice of inspiration for the junior Senator.

Fitz goes nuclear on Olivia for missing his big dinner at the White House. He accuses her of running and she admits that they never really had a chance with him rushing their relationship. She only knows one side of him being his mistress not what Mellie knows him as. Manipulation becomes the theme of the shouting match. The controversial lovers break up!

After an explosive argument with Fitz that turns into their breakup, Olivia decides to move out of the White House and return to her home. To ring in the holiday, Olivia gifts herself with a brand new sofa where she takes a seat and enjoys her favorite pastime, enjoying a glass of wine. With a great smile on her face, she's more than happy to be home for Christmas.

Unfortunately for us, we have no choice but to wait in agony until February 11, 2016 to see what will happen next. Life's not fair.
