Ozzy Osbourne Knighted? Fans Want Their Idol To Be Knighted, When Will He Be Sir Ozzy Osbourne?

Legendary rock star and vocalist of heavy metal band Black Sabbath might soon have a prefix to his name and might become - Sir Ozzy Osbourne.

Osbourne who is also known as the "Prince of Darkness" might be on the road to knighthood after an Australian woman reportedly launched an online petition to get Osbourne nominated for the knighthood, reported the Birmingham Mail.

The woman, identified as Helen Maidiotis wanted all the four members of Black Sabbath to be knighted initially but though concentrating only on Osbourne first was the best way. has managed to get more than 5000 signatures on causes.com to honor the legendary frontman.

"Ozzy has been an inspiration to many great musicians over the last 40 years. He is a credit to his country and I believe that a knighthood for Ozzy is one well deserved and long overdue," wrote Maidiotis, campaign for his knighthood.

She also created a specific Facebook page to support this novel endeavor. He has sold more than 100 million albums as a solo artist in his career spanning more than 40 years. Osbourne also had to tackle the problem of drug and alcohol abuse during his career.

Osbourne and rest of his band mates have finished working on Black Sabbath's new album "13" that is expected to be released June, 2013. The band are also going on tour stopping at Australian and Japan for the Ozzfest.
