'Scandal's' Kerry Washington Honors ABC Costume Designer at Style Makers Award!

Scandal's actress Kerry Washington honors the show's costume designer, Lyn Paolo at Variety & WWD's inaugural Style Makers Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday. Paolo has a respectable resume as a Hollywood costume designer. She has also worked on The West Wing starring Rob Lowe.

The Olivia Pope of Scandal reminisced about the exhausting fashion challenges during the first season and said, "I had never worked this hard in my life and Lyn was equally as exhausted, and we walked into a room and we cried together for about ten minutes, and at that point I knew that I would be friends with her forever because she takes clothes seriously," and added, "This is a woman who is willing to cry until we get it right, and we have been crying and laughing ever since," says People.

For Washington, the fashion expert is not only a friend, but one of her most trusted advisors when it comes to styling her 1-year-old daughter and is an inspiration to the actress as well.

She's a quick study and discovered, "The fashion that I do on the red carpet is different than the fashion I do on the show. I've had a journey in learning to understand both, but one is about marketing and PR and the other is about telling a story.

There is no doubt that the character of the hit ABC show and the actress gets it right, when it comes to making a style statement. Yahoo reported Washington hit the red carpet in a "stripped Saloni ensemble with matching Kirkwood stilettos and Anita Ko earrings." The stripped skirt and midi shirt was a hit and not to mention the shoes.

As Olivia Pope would say, "It's handled!"
