Taylor Swift Off the Grid After Missing AMAs; Disappears from Social Media

Taylor Swift, oh where, oh where have you gone? Such is the question the internet is abuzz with today, after the pop star was noticeably absent from the AMAs over the weekend. Swift is also noticeably absent from all of her social media accounts.

Swift hasn't missed the AMAs in eight years, and posts to her social media accounts multiple times a week. So what gives?

Multiple sources are placing Swift in New Zealand, after numerous reported sightings. Associated Press reports that Swift is there shooting a music video, which has been reportedly confirmed by her record label.

As news of Swift's arrival spread, people in New Zealand went into a frenzy trying to track her down. Reported sightings popped up all over Twitter, with people claiming they saw Swift at the airport, a park and on a beach.

The Guardian was eventually able to confirm the singer arrived in New Zealand on Saturday in a party of eight, and did not have a return ticket. She has a concert on Nov. 28 in Sydney, so it's likely she'll be leaving from there.

But what of her absence from social media?

In October, Ms. Swift said she thought it would be best if she took some time off, saying, "I think people might need a break from me." Perhaps she's starting this little break now?

Her timing is impeccable, as the gossip mill continues to speculate on her relationship with boyfriend Calvin Harris. Rumors continue to swirl (when do they not?) that the two will tie the knot in the coming months.

There's no better way to escape people talking than to stay off social media, until of course, the lack of activity gets people's tongues wagging all over again...
