Eddie Murphy and Judge Reinhold are confirmed to reunite in the pilot of "Beverly Hills Cop" as their iconic characters from the 1984 film of the same name. The 55-year-old Reinhold has a more prominent role, returning as William "Billy" Rosewood who has received a "major promotion" since his days on the streets. Murphy is set to produce the pilot and will reprise his role of Axel Foley in at least the first episode.

This new show will focus on Foley's police officer son who will be portrayed by 29-year-old Brandon T. Jackson (Tropic Thunder, Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Lightning Thief). His character will take "down the criminal elements of the rich and famous in Beverly Hills."

Shawn Ryan of "The Shield" is set to be showrunner and Sony Television will be producing the show. 55-year-old actor Kevin Pollak from such films as The Usual Suspects and A Few Good Men is also starring in the new show.

Beverly Hills Cop was a comedy/action film released in 1984 and was a hit movie, pulling in over $234 million at the box office. It was nominated for the Academy Award for 'Best Writing (Original Screenplay) and two Golden Globes: 'Best Picture - Comedy/Musical' and 'Best Motion Picture Actor' (Eddie Murphy). This iconic film is also listed on the "New York Times Guide to the Best 1,000 Movies Ever Made." Beverly Hills Cop led to Eddie Murphy and Judge Reinhold garnering successful Hollywood acting jobs. The film also has two successful sequels released in 1987 and 1994 respectfully.

Is this reunion exciting? Will we get to see a new take on the "banana in the gas pipe" bit? Will you be watching the new take on the "Beverly Hills Cop" franchise? Do you think that television is the right medium for such a reboot?
