Why Did Taylor Swift Tell Australian Media to "Take it Down a Notch?"

Taylor Swift would like everyone to calm down about her birthday. The pop star, who just took her entire 1989 World Tour crew and band on vacation to Hamilton Island, Australia, took to Instagram to tell the Australian press to "take it down a notch."

The "Aussie press," as Swift called them in her post, is reporting that her presence on the island has nothing to do with her crew, but instead is serving as an early birthday blowout. The press down under is claiming big names Ed Sheeran, Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid (all Swift squad members) are all there to celebrate.

Other reports even claim that Swift's boyfriend, Calvin Harris, flew down for the supposed bash.

Apparently, the singer took notice of all of the rumors, and decided to put them to rest herself.

In her Instagram post, she adorably thanks her crew for all of their hard work, sharing a picture of all 125 people posing for a picture on a stage. She coyly ends the long post with, "Aussie press, I love your enthusiasm but my birthday isn't for 2 weeks and it'll be a quiet one this year. Let's take it down a notch."

Perhaps all of the confusion stems from the heightened security on the island. Australian outlet The Courier-Mail is reporting that the island is on "complete lockdown," and that reporters are being told they're "not welcome." This is upsetting some journalists, they say, who question the legality of a media ban.

However, the outlet was told such protection is legal since the island is privately owned.

Swift's tour wraps up in Australia on Dec. 12, the day before the star's 26th birthday. And despite having plenty to celebrate, including the huge success of her album and tour, it sounds like the singer wants nothing more than a little peace and quiet.
