President Obama to Address Nation on San Bernardino Shooting, ISIS

On Sunday night, President Barack Obama will address the nation in the Oval Office for the third time during his presidency. The address is said to be largely about the recent San Bernardino shooting, as well as the state and constant threat of ISIS in the United States.

USA Today reports that the President's speech will be the first since 2010, after he discussed ending combat operations in Iraq.

Following the shooting, as well as the attacks in Paris last month, President Obama will reportedly "provide an update on the ongoing investigation" occurring in regards to last week's shooting. Furthermore, per a statement from the White House, the President "will also discuss the broader threat of terrorism, including the nature of the threat, how it has evolved, and how we will defeat it."

Per the publication, the presidential address to the nation is a rather rare occasion, as it typically comes following tragic events. During his time in the White House, President Obama has addressed the nation on:

1. The Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill (2010)
2. Ending a Combat Mission Overseas in Iraq (2010)
3. ISIS and the San Bernardino Shootings (2015)

The President's third address will air Sunday, Dec. 6, at 8 p.m. EST.
