Who enjoyed seeing songstress Erykah Badu on the screen hosting the Soul Train Awards? Well, for those that did you are in for a treat. Vibe reports Badu will be making her presence known on the big screen in her indie film, The Land, executive produced by hip-hop royalty, Nas.

The rapper will also be producing the film's soundtrack.

This news is kind of late notice due to the fact the film will premiere next month at the Sundance Film Festival, according to Variety.

So, what is this new film about? Vibe reports that it "chronicles the coming-of-age tale of four teenagers from Cleveland, Ohio as they strive to make a better life."

Who else is involved with this project?

Variety dishes, Steve Caple Jr. and Lizzie Friedman wrote and directed the film. The producers involved with the project are Blake Pickens, Stephen Love, Priority Pictures' Greg Little and Karen Lauder along with Tyler Davidson of Low Spark Films. This will also be Priority Pictures and MACRO's Charles D. King first film together.

Nas tells the publication, "I'm a huge fan of my man Steve Caple Jr. I think he can become the next great filmmaker. [I'm] also very excited to be working with my former agent and friend Charles King on his first film with his new venture. All great energy around the film, which I believe will yield amazing results."

Rollingout reports acting alongside Badu will be Michael K. Williams, Erzi Walker, Jorge Lendenborg Jr., Kim Coates, Moies Arias, Rafi Gavron and Cleveland rapper, Machine Gun Kelly.

Nas is represented by Anthony Saleh and WME Global, which played a major role in arranging financing for the film and is handling the worldwide rights, according to Variety.

This is not the first time this year Nas decided to lend his talents to fellow musicians. He collaborated on Justin Bieber's recently released album, Purpose.

Maybe he will be putting out a project of his own in the near future? Here's hoping!

Will you be tuned into The Land, premiering in January at the Sundance Film Festival?
