Jose Aldo Talks About UFC 194 Shocking Defeat to Connor McGregor

Jose Aldo had been a champion for almost a decade. And then he wasn't. It happened that quickly. In fact, it takes more time to butter bread, or put on one sock, than it did to watch Connor McGregor knock out Aldo in their title fight. After just 13-seconds, McGregor caught Aldo with a left hook--a punch he eerily predicted some time ago--thus ending Aldo's reign on top.

People were stunned--fans, media, the squirrel who lives in that one tree, everybody. Aldo, too.

"It still is too hard to digest," Aldo said, via Yahoo! Sports. "We trained hard, did everything right, and the result wasn't positive. It takes a while for us to digest, but it's part [of the sport]. It's a sport and we have to accept."

The 13-second knockout was a confounding result. It leads many to speculate how exactly it happened. Was it a direct result of McGregor's superiority? Or perhaps a lapse in concentration? Aldo himself doesn't know.

"So, there wasn't even a fight, right? Only 13 seconds," he said, via Yahoo! Sports. "And I also remember when I came in, how I tried to punch. But, man, it's hard to know if it's [his] success of [my] mistake. It's a quick decision, and he was able to connect a good punch when I tried a combination."

The obvious reaction by many, including Aldo, is that a rematch is in order. Seeing as how other fighters such as Ronda Rousey and Cain Velasquez are being offered such a fight, many believe Aldo deserves the same. However, it's still unclear of whether or not that will happen.

"We spoke [with Dana White] right after," Aldo said, via Yahoo! Sports. "But I think it's too soon to talk. Of course, I want a rematch, and I think I have this right. Not only me, but my career speaks for itself."

To rematch or not to rematch, that is the question. It may take a while to decide. In the meantime, however, you can now make that toast!
