Ever since Hrithik Roshan and Sonam Kapoor shot a music video for T-Series, speculations have been swirling around that they will share the screen in Aashiqui 3, but the actress has denied all the rumors.

Kapoor has officially confirmed from her end that she is not a part of upcoming romantic musical, and she has revealed that the only film she is currently working on is her sister Rhea Kapoor's Battle For Bittora. Kapoor, who is currently busy in promoting her upcoming biographical film Neerja, was quoted by The Asian Age as clarifying:

"I am not doing Aashiqui 3. I am only doing my sister Rhea's next film. There is no other film that I am doing. But there are scripts that I am going through."

Mstars News earlier reported that both Roshan and Kapoor were thinking about taking on the project. While Kapoor has now denied being a part of the upcoming installment of Aashiqui, there is no official confirmation in regards to Roshan's association with the project. There were also many rumors in the past that after finishing the promotion of Bajirao Mastani, Deepika Padukone will star against Roshan. However, even Padukone denied being a part of Aashiqui 3. So, for now, there is no official confirmation on the starring cast for Aashiqui 3.

Meanwhile, the trailer of Kapoor's upcoming movie, Neera, was released recently and has been getting some positive feedback from fans and critics. Kapoor will be playing the title role of Neerja Bhanot, who sacrificed her own life to save the lives of several passengers during the 1986 Karachi Hijack.

Mstars News also reported that Mohit Suri, who directed Aashiqui 2, is going to head the project. Ashiqui 2 was released in 2013. Set in the early 2010s, the film followed a love story between musicians Rahul and Arohi, a relationship which is affected by Rahul's issues with alcohol abuse. According to Hindustan Times, the film which was made with a budget of $1.3 million, went on to earn $16 million.

The enormous success of this musical film further urged the makers to work on the another part in the series.
