It was the question nearly every Bruce Springsteen fan was asking this past Saturday evening: Is the band going to play "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" during Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's Saturday Night Live Christmas episode? Well, like always, The Boss delivered.

Stopping by Studio 8H this past weekend, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performed two tracks on the show, "Meet Me in the City" and "The Ties That Bind." As the episode was winding down, instead of bidding everyone Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas from the stage surrounded by the cast, as normally done, both Poehler and Fey sent their well-wishes from the musical guest's stage.

Each host donned a couple of Santa hats as they gave their thanks to the cast, the crew and Springsteen. "Let's hear it once again!" Fey shouted as the band kicked off their famed cover.

Oh, and then Paul McCartney randomly showed up.

Which no one minded, of course.

After the performance, Saturday Night Live key player Bobby Moynihan – who had his own moment of hilarity during the show's cold open as New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie – posted the below photo to Twitter, wishing everyone a "Merry F'n Christmas!"

The image also popped up over on SNL's Instagram page, alongside with the below photo:
