'Agent Carter' Season 2 Synopsis Revealed: Who Will Hayley Atwell's SSR Agent Face in L.A.?

The year-long wait is nearly over, and now the Agent Carter season 2 is expected at ABC on January 19. As Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) prepares to take on the West Coast in a new SSR assignment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe prequel, the synopsis for what's next is revealed!

Marvel has just put up a press release about what's led Peggy to Los Angeles, Blastr reports: though she's continued to chase Dottie (Bridget Reagan) after we last saw her, the search still hasn't led to taking the Soviet spy in, so the East Coast's new SSR Chief Jack Thompson (Chad Michael Murray in what's by far the most unpleasant character in the show) sends Peggy out in a new mission: investigating a corpse in L.A. that somehow glows and emanates cold.

After meeting up with Howard Stark's butler Edwin Jarvis (James D'Arcy) for a new set of adventures (as well as his wife, the previously unseen Ana, played by Lotte Verbeek, who Peggy befriends), there are many new friends and foes for the kickass lady: from charming and helpful scientist Jason Wilkes (possible love interest Reggie Austin) to physicist and movie starlet Whitney Frost (Wynn Everett in a character that sounds partially based on movie star and inventor Hedy Lamarr), her husband Calvin Chadwick (Currie Graham) and War Department veteran Vernon Masters (Kurtwood Smith).

"The search comes full circle when Russian spy Dottie Underwood (Bridget Regan) returns into Peggy's life in a new and unexpected way," reads the synopsis. "But even as Peggy discovers a new city, both old and new friends -- and potentially a new love -- she's about to learn the bright lights of post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect."

The new season will also count with Ken Marino in the role of a big-time mobster and How I Met Your Mother alum Lyndsy Fonseca will be reprising her role as Angie Martinelli in the series, which will premiere right after the special of the 75th Anniversary of Captain America on ABC.
