Elizabeth Banks is going to be just as busy behind the camera as she is in front of it. The 41-year-old Hunger Games actress and her husband Max Handelman will produce Mrs. Claus for Universal through their production company Brownstone Pictures. The holiday film's plot will focus on the hardworking underrated woman behind the man as she deals with the pressures during the holidays.

The Emmy nominee and MTV Movie Award winner is of course no stranger to the producing process having done it with the successful modern day musicals Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2, the latter of which Banks also directed. In fact, she's set to helm the upcoming sequel Pitch Perfect 3, with returning actresses Rebel Wilson and Anna Kendrick. She will supposedly also pick up the proverbial bullhorn for the newest reboot of the Charlie's Angels franchise and an adaption of the fantasy novel The Red Queen.

According to VarietyMrs. Claus  will be written by Emmy winning writer John Riggi whose credits, as writer, director and producer, include The Larry Sanders ShowFamily GuyThe Bernie Mack ShowWill & Grace30 Rock, Super Fun Night and The Comeback.

It has not been confirmed whether Banks will portray Santa's better half, despite her experience not only in comedy but having appeared in the 2007 holiday-themed Fred Claus with Vince Vaughn. Of course it's obvious the female producer/director hasn't abandoned being in front of the camera as is evident with her recent roles in the film Magic Mike XXL, the hit sitcom Modern Family  and the mini-series Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. In additon, she is set to star as a World War II photographer in the adventure drama Rita Hayworth with a Hand Grenade which begins production next spring.
