The Apple iPad Mini is promising due to its lower price and Apple's marketing power however there are many great products out there that have competitive features, especially the new release of Amazon's Kindle Fire HD.

The regular priced new iPad has a hefty price tag of $499 with Retina Display and 4G LTE.  The Amazon's tablet mostly used for reading books can be purchased for under $200.  If Apple is looking to reach into that market with their iPad Mini, they would need to offer a much lower price and better features.

Rumors have it that the iPad mini might be in the $250-$300 range.  It is not too expensive compared to the normal iPad, yet it's not too affordable to take over the entire market. Analysts predict that even in that price range, Apple could very well take a strong portion of the e-book small tablet market.

The new iOS6 is coming out on September 19, 2012, which means that the iPad mini would inherit all the new features that comes with the new operating system including a major upgraded Siri. The iPad mini release date is estimated for October.
