Reading has already been relegated and Manchester City has pretty much sealed second place in the Premier League, but today's matchup could end up being surprising. As of now, Reading is in 19th place (out of 20) so a win today does not mean anything for the departing team other than a final good-bye to the Barclays Premier League. Plus Man City just lost the FA Cup to the 18th ranked team, so who knows what could happen!
Manchester City won the league in 2012, but failed to defend their title this year resulting in the sacking of their coach Roberto Mancini. The disappointing season and the devastating recent loses lead the franchise to fire Mancini with four years left on his contract. Malaga's manager Manuel Pellegrini is set to replace Mancini with Brian Kidd taking over interim duties for today's matchup.
"Despite everyone's best efforts, the club has failed to achieve any of its stated targets this year, with the exception of qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League," Manchester City said in a statement.
"This, combined with an identified need to develop a holistic approach to all aspects of football at the club, has meant that the decision has been taken to find a new manager for the 2013-14 season and beyond."
Roberto Mancini lead coached Manchester City to their first trophy in 33 years with the FA Cup title in 2011 and grabbed the top rank in their league for the first time in 44 years.
Reading is playing for pride today. Do you think that Reading can pull an upset over Manchester City as a final good-bye to the Barclays Premier League?
