Last week, the world was shocked to hear that one of the most iconic music artists in the past decades, Prince, had been found dead in his home. Ever since, tributes have continued to pour in, honoring the man who made the color purple his own -- and among those paying their respects was the cast of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Broadway mega-hit musical Hamilton, who sang "Let's Go Crazy!" after their Broadway performance.

Hamilton might be the hottest thing on Broadway right now. But that doesn't mean they're about to forget the greats before them, on both theater and music. Last Thursday, hours after the death of the "Purple Rain" singer was announced, the cast honored the singer right after their performance ended.

"There's one more thing we'd like to say before we go," said Miranda during the curtain call, as it was later revealed on the musical's official Facebook page. "We lost a giant today, so today..."

The cast then went on a beautiful rendition of the 1984 song, originally from the Purple Rain album.

According to Rolling Stone Magazine, even though the move to honor Prince looks more or less natural, in fact the Hamilton cast rehearsed time and again to get this right. The show's director, Alex Lacamoire, had spent the whole day with the cast working on the Prince version -- there's a clip from the rehearsals out there, posted by the show's choreographer Gregory Haney.

Upon hearing the news, show creator and star Miranda had taken to Twitter to express his sadness over Prince's death.

The Huffington Post reports that Hamilton wasn't the only Broadway hit honoring the rock star. Not very far away, the cast of The Color Purple took the stage to sing "Purple Rain," and lead actress Jennifer Hudson also called Prince her "friend" and invited the audience to join in the song.
