Known for his competitive nature and style, Kelly Slater showed how he can dominate on a surfboard. The professional surfer landed a 720 perfectly during the 2014 Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal, becoming a viral sensation.
If it's not done correctly, the 720 aerial attempt usually leads to broken joints and shattered boards. While airborne, the surfer tries to pull an Alley Oop before coming down on the waves. It's an impressive sight to see when the maneuver is pulled off swiftly.
About 36 surfing professionals are attending the Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal competition. Surfers go through 5 rounds before they reach the quarter finals. Only one contestant ends up becoming the winner of the competition.
During one of the sessions, the 42 year old surfer pulled off an insanely athletic feat. Depending where you're looking from, Slater landed a 720 (or a 540) as he rode the waves on his board. According to StabMag, Peter King caught the athlete on camera and shared it on his Instagram account.

When you look at the video, Slater is actually pulling off his move in a reverse direction. Not only did he land safely, his board continues floating across the waves. You can actually hear the videographer chuckling and a bystander laughing as they react to the surfing champion's latest accomplishment.
Another video was posted, this time from Hurley, which caught the crowd's reaction. One of the other surfers claims, "It was really like inverted, which makes it really sick."
Slater himself was interviewed and states, "I was really surprised when I was still on my board. Oh cool!"
