This year will mark the seventh anniversary of Michael Jackson's sudden death in 2009, but the King of Pop hasn't stopped being relevant for a single day since his passing. Now, famed director Spike Lee is releasing a new documentary about Jackson's album Off the Wall, taking it to both Sundance and Showtime.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Legacy Recordings announced last Thursday that there would be a reissue of the King of Pop's fifth studio album in February. Still, fans might get even more excited about the other project related to the singer: Lee is releasing a new documentary about the singer, Michael Jackson's Journey from Motown to Off the Wall.

The film will premiere in late January at the Sundance Film Festival, and it will be released on Showtime only a few weeks later, on February 5.

Lee's film will chronicle Jackson's story of artistic success and how he went from being a child star in the Jackson 5 to becoming one of the most important pop stars in the 20th century. As the title suggests, the documentary will focus on Off the Wall, Jackson's first attempt as a solo artist, and the album introduced some of the singer's biggest hits, including "Don't Stop Until You Get Enough."

Besides Jackson's family, the documentary will also feature some of the biggest names in current music, including Pharrell Williams, John Legend and The Weeknd.

As Deadline reports, this isn't the first time Lee tackled Jackson's life. Back in 2012, Lee released Bad 25, a documentary about the 25th anniversary of Jackson's iconic album Bad, and the Do The Right Thing! director was also the one behind Jackson's posthumous video for "This Is It."

Back when Jackson was at the peak of his fame and he hired the most important directors in the world to film his music videos, the two men worked together on "They Don't Care About Us."
