Finn and Poe Dameron Couple? 'Force Awakens' Actors John Boyega and Oscar Isaac Weigh In

As Star Wars: The Force Awakens continues its way towards becoming the most successful box office smash of all time, theories about the characters are unending. A popular theory online is that the film's instant bromance, between John Boyega's Finn and Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron, is actually a gay couple -- and one of the actors agrees!

According to Out Magazine, before the film premiered Isaac told Ellen DeGeneres that his character might have some romance going on. Now that the movie's out, it seems pretty obvious that he meant a romance between Poe and Finn.

"I think it's a very subtle romance that's happening. You know, you just have to look very close. You have to watch it a few times to see the little hints," Isaac teased.

Of course, this gave hope to millions of fans out there who are so very in love with the possibility that they've even invented a portmanteau name for the Star Wars couple: Stormpilot.

However, fans' hopes and dreams were basically shattered by the other half of the possible couple, as Boyega recently said in an interview that the romance between the two characters isn't canon and it's only "in Oscar's head." The interview hasn't been published yet, but Chris Mandle, Features Editor at Shortlist, went on Twitter to express his disappointment.

Sad news: John Boyega confirmed to me the Finn/Poe romance is not canon and it only exists "in Oscar's head" :(

However, as pointed out by The Mary Sue, the fact that the conversation about the two characters' sexuality keeps going only adds fuel to the fire. Even though the characters' romantic relationship isn't canon, considering how quickly they bonded in the film, it's no surprise that Isaac played their relationship as a romantic one.

Disney only recently featured its first few gay Marvel gay characters, according to Pink News: first, Inhuman Joey (Juan Pablo Raba) in Agents of SHIELD and then Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss) in A.K.A. Jessica Jones.
