Lady Gaga, aka Stefani Germanotta, has won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Limited Series, Series, or Motion Picture for her performance as the Countess in the fifth season of American Horror StoryHotelIt was the first nomination and the first win for the 29-year-old "Poker Face" singer who was in genuine shock when comedian Kevin Hart read her name. As she made her way to the stage, wearing a black curve hugging dress, she unknowingly gave Leonardo Di Caprio a jolt by bumping into his chair. Then after being so overcome with emotion, in her acceptance speech she forgot to thank her fiancée, actor Taylor Kinney from NBC's Chicago Fire.

"I feel like Cher in that John Patrick Shanley film Moonstruck right now. This is one of the greatest moments of my life," said the six-time Grammy winner after her win. She then thanked producer Ryan Murphy and the rest of her cast. "You're my family forever. ... Because of you, I was able to shine, I guess. So thank you for sharing your talent with me. I wanted to be an actress before I wanted to be a singer, but music worked out first."

The competition in the "Applause" vocalist's category included strong performances by previous Golden Globe winner Felicity Huffman who was nominated this year for American Crime and previous Golden Globe winner Queen Latifah who was nominated this year for Bessie. Rounding out the category were previous Golden Globe nominee Kirsten Dunst, who was nominated this year for her role in Fargo, and newcomer Sarah Hay, who was nominated for her performance in Flesh & Bone.

As for Gaga, the two-time Emmy nominee, one for her recent variety special with Tony Bennett, has had minor acting roles in the Robert Rodriguez films Machete Kills and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

In addition, The Fame Monster songstress is also making headlines for appearing nude with Kinney on the cover of V magazine.  As for American Horror Story, Gaga's win is the second Golden Globe for the FX anthology series. Jessica Lange won for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in 2012.  The current season is still airing and will wrap up this week.
