'Twilight's' Kristen Stewart Directing Films? Actress Talks Moving Behind Camera

In discussing her future projects, Kristen Stewart isn't talking about what she wants to do in front of the camera as much as what she wants to do behind it. It seems the 25-year-old Twilight star wants to follow in the footsteps on her Panic Room co-star Jodie Foster and direct films as well as act in them. In fact, she hopes to be sitting in the director's chair fairly soon.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Stewart was asked if she'd like to direct her own work. "Oh yeah, I'm gunning. I really want to do that now." she stated. Although she's willing to wait for the time and material to be right, she added, "I think I'd be pretty good at getting people on the same plane and on the sort of train. Yeah, I can't f*cking wait." 

Ironically, the timing of her statement comes in the midst of her latest acting performance in Clouds of Sils Maria, in which she became not only a NYFCC Award winner, but the first American actress to win France's prestigious Cesar award, aka the French Oscar, with the buzz being she may also get an American one.

Of course, the Still Alice actress has directed before. Back in 2014, she picked up the proverbial bullhorn to direct a music video for her friend Sage Galesi of the band Sage + The Saints. "I knew that I wanted Kristen to direct this video, and part of that is because I knew she would have the perfect vision for it." said Galesi to Us Weekly.

Although the title character of Snow White and the Huntsman claims if she were to direct a film, it would be different and not like her most recent opus, Personal Shopper, where she admits to having a near death experience. "I genuinely felt closer to death on a movie than I've ever felt," said Stewart before adding "It's like 16-hour days, six days a week, running my f*cking ass around Paris. Literally nonstop running."

One question that has emerged is if Stewart is so eager to direct, would she consider yelling "Action" to her former co-star and ex-boyfriend Robert Pattinson?  According to a recent interview, despite both having moved on in their personal lives, Pattinson with UK singer FKA Twigs and Stewart more recently with Mad Max actor Nicholas Hoult, they would work together again.  Whether it will be as director to actor is yet to be seen.
