Bill Gates and Steve Jobs formed one of the most famous professional rivalries in the past 30 years, as they were both part of the computing revolution through their companies/operational systems, namely Microsoft/Windows and Apple/Mac. Now, the two revolutionary figures are getting one of the highest honors the entertainment industry can offer: a Broadway musical, Nerds!

Although you might not instantaneously associated tech inventors with singing and dancing, Ars Technica reports that Jordan Allen-Dutton and Erik Weiner, who in the past have written for Cartoon Network's Robot Chicken, have created a musical comedy about Gates and Jobs' years-long professional rivalry.

Considering the topic, it makes sense that the show's mise-en-scene won't be traditional: the creators are spicing it up with technology.

According to EnGadget, the Nerds musical will feature holograms on stage as well as an integrated app that will let audience members interact with the play through their phones, while they're watching. The specifics of how this will turn out haven't been announced just yet, but it's safe to assume that crowds should go in with a fully charged battery.

The musical will play at the Longacre Theater in New York City starting April 21st, but there will be previews since late March, in case you just can't wait to see the two tech CEO's battle of technology, song and dance.

According to Rolling Stone Magazine, while this will be Nerds' Broadway début, the show has played on different locations in the past. Back in 2005, when Jobs was still alive, the Philadelphia Theater Company played the musical, and it won local Barrymore Awards. Later on, it was played at North Carolina in a limited engagement.

The musical's director will be Casey Hushion, who has worked behind the scenes on numerous theater productions including Elf and Fat Camp, while On the Town choreographer John Bergasse will be behind the show's dance moves. As of yet, casting choices have not been announced.
