Star Wars: The Force Awakens mastermind, J.J. Abrams, once again caused an Internet meltdown with the release of the new trailer for 10 Cloverfield Lane early Friday. The film promises to be a "blood relative" of 2008's Cloverfield, the shaky cam, "found footage" style film that followed a mysterious monster's attack on New York in May of 2009. Abrams (who is producing the flick) is famously sneaky with marketing materials like trailers, so let's see if we can't unpack a few of the little hidden clues that you might have missed in the clip.

1. The Song :12

The trailer starts out with the fitting song, "I Think We Are Alone Now," by Tommy James And The Shondells. Hardly an accident, the title of the song alone seems to suggest the film takes place after (possibly relatively soon after, we'll get to that in a moment) the events of Cloverfield, which left New York presumably in ruins.

2. The Injuries

All three main characters (played by John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher Jr.) appear injured at some point in the trailer. Winstead's character is seen with a leg brace, a cut to the face, and even crutches at one point. Gallagher Jr.'s character is never seen without his sling and Goodman gets a good whack to the face from Winstead at about 1:04 in the trailer, suggesting the serene beginning to the trailer doesn't last for long in the film. The official synopsis for the film reveals that Winstead's character has been in an accident, but what about Gallagher Jr.? Where did he come from, and why is he already injured? Goodman clearly knows what's going on up above, but what Gallagher Jr.'s character knows remains to be seen...

3. The Rumblings of the Cellar (The Monster?!) :34, 1:29

Rumblings from up above can be heard twice in the trailer: once in the beginning at 34 seconds, and again at the end of the clip starting at around 1:29. What is interesting about the noises is that they are different. The first sounds more like an earthquake (although let's be honest, it probably isn't), and the second one sounds a little more, shall we say, alive? Could it be the infamous Cloverfield monster?

4. The Phone :50

Perhaps the most telling clue is Winstead's phone. I'm no expert, but it looks as if the cell phone she's holding is an iPhone somewhere in the 4th or 5th generation. It certainly isn't the iPhone 3, or an even more recent model. The iPhone 4 came out in 2010, and the iPhone 5 was released in 2012. If it is indeed an iPhone 4 or 5, that would place the events of the film somewhere between 2010 and 2012. Remember, the events of the original Cloverfield took place in 2009. Of course, it is possible the phone is an anachronism (which is doubtful, but it needs to be said), or it could be that Winstead simply has an older phone, which isn't unheard of in this day and age. Regardless, it's an interesting thought to ponder.

5. The Barrel :54

Another intriguing moment comes when Goodman's character dons rubber gloves in order to reach into some sort of mysterious barrel. Presumably this is some big reveal in the film, as both Gallagher Jr. and Winstead are giving Goodman their best bewildered faces. Is it evidence of the monster? Or perhaps some clue as to where the monster came from?

6. The Window 1:18

Another big reveal comes towards the end of the clip, when Winstead finally makes it out of the lower portion of the bunker, much to Goodman's disapproval. As he's banging on the door pleading with her not to go outside, a brief glimpse of the outside world can be seen. The synopsis to the film reveals that Goodman's character (at least at first) tells Winstead there's been some sort of chemical attack that has left the outside world uninhabitable. Judging by this quick, blurry shot, though, the outside world is still standing. It could be that Goodman's character is telling the truth, but it's just as likely the monster is out and about and that's what he's truly trying to save everyone from. The latter is backed up by the next little tidbit...

7. "Something's Coming" 1:27

...when Goodman's character can be heard at the end saying, "Something's coming." Not someone, something. This clearly implies some type of creature, presumably the Cloverfield monster. This would mean he knows what's out there, which means the chemical attack story is a lie he's telling, or at least, it's not the whole story. Perhaps the world launched a chemical attack to kill the monster, but failed?

8. 10 Cloverfield Lane 1:34

And last, but certainly not least, we're left with the name of the new film: 10 Cloverfield Lane. The first thing to note is that it sounds like a real address. And what if it is an address? The name Cloverfield is never described in the first film beyond the notion that it's the name designated, presumably by the U.S. government, to the incident's case file. Is it possible Cloverfield refers to where the monster came from/first attacked/was first spotted/etc? Could that be the house/bunker where the characters in the new film find themselves? If so, how is Goodman involved and what does he know, if anything? Is this related to the barrel (see above)?

All of these questions will be answered come March 11, when the film opens. Readers, what are your theories surrounding this exciting new film? I want to hear in the comments below.
