Matt Groening has become a very wealthy man since 1989, after creating what's become the longest-running animated series on television, The Simpsons (and all its merchandise and theme parks), as well as cult favorite, Futurama. Now, the very successful cartoonist and writer is reportedly heading to Netflix for another project: a two-season deal for a new animated series!

According to Deadline, new reports say that the Simpsons executive producer is currently working alongside Netflix for a new series, although for now details of what it'll be about are being kept a secret. However, considering Groening's history with animated comedies and Netflix's projects so far (including dark humor comedies like BoJack Horseman and F For Family), logic would say it's going to be fairly adult-directed.

Although Netflix has declined to comment in this stage of development, it's being reported that they'd be working towards a two-season order of ten episodes each with Groening. It's hardly a first for the streaming site; in the past, other original content like their flag series House of Cards, Tina Fey's comedy Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and most recently Judd Apatow's upcoming Love have started out with a two-season order, and so far the move has worked wonders for the network.

Variety reports that, although he retains his position as executive producer of The Simpsons, Groening hasn't been actively working on television in nearly three years, since Futurama ended its run in 2013. Still, working with Groening is quite the safe bet for Netflix, considering he helmed a series that's been airing for nearly three decades, and that kind of success is no less than enviable.

Groening's big start on television came in 1987, when the first-ever episode of what would become The Simpsons aired on The Tracey Ullman Show in the form of an animated short, ultimately developing into the series about the yellow inhabitants of Springfield.
