The controversy over the nearly all white Oscar nominations continues with Jada Pinkett Smith suggesting a boycott of the awards and host Chris Rock dubbing it the "White BET Awards."

Ever since the nominees were announced last Thursday, there has been uproar over the lack of diversity in the nominations. Today, both Smith and Rock chimed in on this hot topic.

Chris Rock, who is the host of the show, shared a new promo today on Twitter that shared three reasons why you should watch the show. He accompanied it with the caption "The #Oscars. The White BET Awards." This new hashtag for the show comes on the heels of #OscarsSoWhite taking over the social media the last couple of days.

The comedian isn't the only celebrity speaking his mind on the topic today. Jada Pinkett Smith took to Twitter as well to suggest a possible boycott of the show as part of her reaction to the lack of diversity in the nominations. In a series of tweets, she sent out a message that talked about how "people of color are always allowed to present at the show or even entertain people at the show" but are "rarely" awarded for their accomplishments.

It was after that remark that she suggested maybe "people of color" should not participate. The actress ended her message talking about how people will treat you the way you let them.

Both Rock and Smith have sent out messages that share how they feel about this years lack of diversity at the Oscars. Their messages may have different styles but they are essentially saying the same thing. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out on the night of the show.

Are Smith, and othes, not going to attend the most prestigious awards show in Hollywood? How will Rock incorporate the controversy into his monologue or one of his other bits on that night?

We will just have to wait until February 28th to find out! The show airs on ABC at 7 p.m. EST.
