Just hours after chief content officer for Netflix, Ted Sarandos, told reporters Netflix is considering a way to keep Making a Murderer around for more seasons, word comes from the creators that new work has already been done for the show. The comments were all made during panels on Sunday at the Television Critics Association sessions.

Earlier in the day, Sarandos said to reporters that "the story is still unfolding, so we'll certainly take a look at [doing more of the show]."

Just a few hours later in another panel, creators Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi revealed they have conducted more interviews and done more work for the series.

Making a Murderer follows the case of Steven Avery, a Wisconsin man who claims he was framed by the police and local community in the murder of photographer Teresa Halbach. Avery is currently serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for the crime.

Of the new work, Ricciardi revealed, "We've had several television conversations with Steven Avery and did record those calls with an eye toward using them in future episodes."

The creators say that as of now, Avery has not seen the first season of the show and is not being allowed access to it.

The true crime series has led to a large public outcry, with many people signing petitions for Avery's case to be re-opened.

And although it's not associated with the Netflix show in any official capacity, a follow-up of sorts is already in the works. Investigation Discovery's Front Page: The Steven Avery Story is set to air at the end of January. The special promises to "better inform viewers in light of the nearly 300,000 people calling for the release of Avery."

In response to the special, Sarandos said he felt it was a "smart" move for Investigation Discovery. "[They] get the sense that the entire world is talking about this story," he said. "That's what they're following. It's a news story."
