Madonna, the Queen of Pop herself, is currently on tour with her latest album, Rebel Heart, and while she performs on packed stages, she's bound to receive criticism occasionally. After a recent Louisville concert, she was accused of performing drunk, so she quickly took to Instagram to deny it, noting sexism and people taking her words too literally.

According to The Daily Mail, the star went on the social network to deny claims that she was intoxicated, thanking the Louisville crowd as an audience and then pointing out that she never goes on stage intoxicated. She also went on to explain that she'd made a joke about "doing a stand comedy act dressed as a clown and being able to drink alcohol" that got blown out of proportion.

Madonna called out haters by saying the criticism had been "sexist;" saying if a man had gone through the same thing, he would have never gotten that much flack. Still, considering Madonna's concerts go for longer than two hours of both singing and dancing, even if she had been drunk at the start it'd be nearly impossible to remain intoxicated near the end -- and even harder to maintain her focus to do complex dance moves.

The controversy began last Sunday, when TMZ posted a clip from Madonna's concert in the Kentucky city, along with testimony from some of the show's attendants, who claimed she'd "trash talked" her crowd and spoken in a "fake hillbilly accent." Fans screamed insults at the star at the time over her words and behavior.

The Queen of Pop is currently in the middle of a tough custody battle with former husband Guy Ritchie. As People Magazine reported in December, their son Rocco got tired of touring with his mom and decided to stay at his dad's place in England instead.

It's been a few tough weeks for the singer ever since, as she continues to tour while lawyering up ahead of the court date that will decide who Rocco stays with.
