Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned; or a hockey player scorned by a woman, for that matter. Take Justin Agosta, for example. The 25-year-old Florida Everblades hockey player got upset with his girlfriend last month. He attempted to quell the emotional pain by buying some gasoline to burn the love letters from the woman who he once thought was his forever and always. Not all that surprisingly, the fire got out of control--after all, gasoline was involved in the task of burning paper. He was subsequently arrested for arson.

From the Naples News:

"The 25-year-old told firefighters who responded to his apartment along the 11200 block of Everblades Parkway in Estero that he was upset with his girlfriend when he bought gasoline at a nearby gas station to douse the letters. Agosta said he tried to put the fire out with water and a towel when it got out of control near the entrance of his apartment and caused damage to the front of his building and walls where soot collected. The fire sprinkler went off and Agosta dialed 911 to alert firefighters."

According to Yahoo! Sports, the arrest didn't cause Agosta to miss any action on the ice--his safe haven from fire.

While Agosta plies his trade in the ECHL with the Everblades, he has spent some time with the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL--the Carolina Hurricanes' affiliate--playing 8 games for them this this season. His most recent and consistent action, however, has come with the Everblades.

Agosta's next court appearance is scheduled for February 1. Will he miss a game playing for the team because of his arrest? Haven't we all done something stupid when we were heartbroken?

After Agosta's recent endeavors, it's safe to say that the old adage still rings true today: love hurts. Or causes arson. Either one, really.

Sad songs say so much, don't they?

Oh, you don't think so? Cry me a river.
