It's no surprise that My Chemical Romance had dissolved, over the weekend we reported that the band was no longer together.  While fans wanted an explanation and more details on the spilt, band frontman Gerard Way penned a letter to fans Monday morning, offering his sentiments on the split.

"I woke up this morning still dreaming, or not fully aware of myself just yet. The sun poked through the windows, touching my face, and then a deep sadness overcame me, immediately, bringing me to life and realization- My Chemical Romance had ended," Way wrote in his opening paragraph.

The band, founded in New Jersey in 2001, comprising members Gerard Way, Ray Toro, Mikey Way and Frank Iero split after 12 years.

The group recorded four studio albums, including the platinum-selling "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" in 2004, followed by "The Black Parade" in 2006.
