Jessica Sanchez 'Glee' Role: 'American Idol' Sweetheart To Play 'Legendary Diva,' New Album Release Date Announced

American Idol standout Jessica Sanchez has finally revealed what her highly-anticipated role on Glee will be and has confirmed a release date for her new album Me, You and the Music.

The 17-year-old Sanchez is set to appear in two episodes of Glee this season, including the May 9 season finale, and has been given a powerful role to match her voice.

“I’m playing a student from a rival school who is supposed to be a legendary diva – a powerhouse singer,” Sanchez told People in a recent interview.

“It’s going to be a very busy month for me,” Jessica told the magazine. “I’m very excited because I’ve never acted before. I really want to meet [Naya Rivera]. She’s got that attitude and I love it,” she said.

Sanchez also confirmed that her debut album Me,You and the Music would drop on April 30. She has already released the first single off that album, “Tonight” (feat. Ne-Yo), and returned to Idol to perform the track. Have a listen below:

Sanchez told People that, despite all of the directions her career pulls her in, she still finds time for her boyfriend, 18-year-old DeAndre Brackensick. The duo met during Sanchez’s season 11 Idol run, where Brackensick was a fellow contestant.

“We have a balance,” Jessica said. “We understand each other’s schedules so it is not so needy. It’s very good.”

While in-depth details of Sanchez’s Glee role are slow in coming, many speculate that she’ll serve as a love interest for Finn.

“Yeah, my Mom and my friends tell me, everyone tells me that I am going to be Finn’s love interest!” Sanchez said in December during an interview with HollywoodLife.com. “I am very excited if that happens! It would definitely be the role to play!”
