The situation in Flint, Michigan, is a sad one. With lead contaminating the cities water supply, many families and residents of the area have been put under unimaginable stress and potential physical harm. There's nothing anybody can do to change what has happened, but that doesn't mean things can't be done to help going forward. Take Ezekiel Ansah, for example. The Detroit Lions star recently teamed up with a few of his teammates to provide some 94,000 bottles of water to people of the Flint community.

"I am thankful to be in a position to do something about this," Ansah said in a statement. "I can only hope this helps as a more permanent solution is being determined. It speaks volumes that my teammates were happy to jump on board and support as well.

"These are our fans. These are the people that support us and it means something to be able to help them as well."

Ansah and his fellow teammates––a group of Lions defensive lineman––dropped the water off personally on Friday. They are the just the latest athletes in a long line to offer their assistance to the people of Flint.

The Washington Redskins defensive line donated over 3,000 bottles of water collectively, while the Lions organization as a whole donated an undisclosed amount of money to the United Way. Furthermore, Thomas Rawls, a Flint native and Seattle Seahawks running back, has future plans to help his hometown community.

The Lions finished with a 7-9 record this year, missing out on the playoffs. Ansah, however, enjoyed much personal success, being elected to his first Pro Bowl in his three years with Detroit. He'll attend the game next week in Hawaii, along with the rest of the defensive line, who will be going as guests of Ansah.
