There have been several speculations surrounding a possible third villain making an appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, since fans don't seem to be satisfied with the presence of Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor and Michael Shannon's Doomsday in the movie. However, there hasn't been much evidence to support the rumors until Empire recently released new photos from the film!

There were four amazing new pictures from Batman v Superman revealed in celebration of Empire's special BvS double-cover issue, but one particular photograph of Batman caught the eye of fans everywhere. The said picture shows Ben Affleck's Caped Crusader standing in front of a post-apocalyptic world while buildings are engulfed in flames. But the interesting part of the photo is that it actually shows a huge omega symbol carved into the ground in front of the ruined city.

The image undoubtedly announces the arrival of DC's most terrifying supervillain Darkseid, who uses Omega Beams to disintegrate just about anything. The appearance of parademons in the trailer may have hinted on the villain's appearance in BvS, but the omega symbol seen in Batman's nightmare is photographic proof that Darkseid is definitely going to appear in the film.

The photo may be a glimpse at Bruce Wayne's deepest fears, but how did he start dreaming about Darkseid in the first place? There are speculations that the villain's arrival was actually seen by Diana Prince in a vision. After all, Wonder Woman is one of the first characters to encounter Darkseid in the comic books, when he attacks Themyscira and kills hundreds of Amazons. Gal Gadot's character might see what happens in the future and decides to find Batman to warn him of the impending doom.

As exciting as it may be that another major supervillain will be featured in BvS, there is a possibility that Darkseid's appearance may only be limited to the dream sequence and we'll see more of him in the Justice League movies.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will premiere on March 25.
