Adding his name to the list of those who aren't qualified to be President of the United States, but are running anyway, is Ghostbusters star Bill Murray. Yes, the Lost in Translation lead has announced that he's adding his name to the 2016 presidential election. And while the news could be somewhat laughable to many—or incredible, depending on the age of his fans—his reason for doing so appears rather sincere.

ABC News reports that Murray made the announcement from his home in Charleston, South Carolina, releasing word that explains he's been "thinking about doing this for a while now," and he felt the 2016 presidential election seemed like the right time to him.

During his announcement, the famed Saturday Night Live star admitted that he really doesn't care for most of the candidates running for the POTUS seat, with the exception of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who "seems like a decent guy."

Calling both Donald Trump and Ted Cruz "Hitler wanna-be's," Murray asserts that the reason for their high poll numbers is due to the fact that they are feeding on the "hate and paranoia" that many denizens of the United States find themselves having. Which is something many can see being discussed during the presidential debates.

"I think the American people are better than that and they deserve better," he claimed.

On improving the country, Murray stated that people should be "personally responsible" and believes the true way to live is through taking care of both yourself and other people, something he hopes to bring forth as he runs.

While not at all a politician, Murray's basis for adding his name to the list appears to be, at the core, for the betterment of the American people, to help them realize that hate and anger is not the way to go about voting in an election, nor are they ways to run a country.

After all, as Martin Luther King Jr. once said: "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."
