George Clooney may be off the market, but he still knows how to make people everywhere swoon. News spread this week that Clooney and his wife Amal had helped adopt a terrier with birth defects for his parents over the Christmas holidays. His parents had recently lost their terrier of 10 years.

According to LuvFurMutts Rescue, they waited about a month to share the news with the world out of respect for the Clooney family's privacy. In a post on their Facebook page, they detail the adorable process of getting the terrier, whose name is Nate, adopted.

"He was born with birth defects. A barrel chest, a leg that swayed," the post reads. It goes on to detail how people would point and stare at Nate at adoption events, and several would-be adopters turned him down once seeing him in person. Nate was rescued by the organization from a hoarder, along with 11 other dogs.

"The lowest point came when an adopter cried when she met him and said she would be depressed the rest of her life if she had to look at him every day," the shelter says. Luckily, a very famous family was watching Nate on the Internet.

The post says that all the details were carried out by Clooney's assistant, Angel, but that Amal and George had been looking at Nate online and watching videos of him. They showed the videos to George's mom, Nina, who reportedly fell in love instantly.

Naturally, George had Angel arrange to surprise his parents on Christmas Eve with their new pup. The good tidings don't stop there, though, as George and Amal also made a donation to the shelter. Of the donation and adoption, LuvFurMutts says, "We want to thank George and Amal Clooney for adopting Nate and their donation to LuvFurMutts that covered more than Nate's previous surgery expenses."

George and Amal made headlines for another rescue last October. The couple adopted a basset hound named Millie from a California shelter, who joined their two previously rescued cocker spaniels.
