There were surprises on- and off-screen at this year's SAG Awards. Newspaper flick Spotlight won the biggest film prizes, Best Ensemble and Best Picture. Idris Elba also picked up two awards: Best Supporting Actor for Beasts of No Nation and Best Actor in a Miniseries for Luther.

Which were the best moments of the night? Read on:

Carol Burnett showed up in slippers.

The legendary comedienne and Lifetime Achievement Award recipient decided to forgo heels for the afterparty and slipped into a pair of Ugg slippers,.

The awards made for some er... interesting ... photos.

Winners were supposed to take pictures backstage with their trophy or "Actor," and a few chose some unconventional poses. Idris Elba was asked to do bicep curls with his Actors. Allen Leech of Downton Abbey even kissed his statuette's bum.

Eddie Redmayne's face during Alicia Vikander's speech.

Proving he is the most supportive co-star ever, Redmayne was thoroughly emotional when Alicia Vikander won Best Supporting Actress for The Danish Girl. Check it out here and be prepared to swoon.

Someone asked Viola Davis about Steven Avery, subject of Netflix docuseries "Making a Murderer."

And it didn't go over so well. The Hollywood Reporter's Scott Feinberg says of the incident, "The first question asked to Viola Davis [after her SAG win] backstage: 'Do you think Steven Avery is guilty?' Unbelievable. Do they screen these people?"

5. Abe Vigoda was missing from the "in memoriam" segment

Vigoda (Barney Miller, The Godfather) died Jan. 26 (and several times before that on the Internet) and despite making national news, the star was overlooked in the "in memoriam" segment. Also notably absent from the list were Dan Haggerty (Grizzly Mountain and Escape to Grizzly Mountain), David Margulies (Ghostbusters, The Sopranos), John Compton and Grace Lee Whitney.
