Next year, David Lynch's Twin Peaks will come back to the small screen for its season 3, this time on a Showtime revival. Now, it has come out that the director will be reprising his role of FBI Regional Bureau Chief Gordon Cole, plus adding two cast members: Tom Sizemore and Naomi Watts, who was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in Lynch's Mulholland Drive.

News of the two new cast members comes from Deadline, though Showtime hasn't confirmed the two new actors yet -- but then again, the project has been generally quite discreet when it comes to new announcements.

Still, there have been varying reports of new additions to the Twin Peaks family, including another Lynch favorite, Laura Dern (who's appeared on many of his films, from Blue Velvet to Inland Empire), Oscar nominee Jennifer Jason Leigh and Amanda Seyfried.

So far, the only cast member that's been officially confirmed is Kyle MacLachlan, who will be reprising the role of Dale Cooper, which he played in the '90s series. Rumors claim that original cast members Sherilyn Fenn (who played Audrey Home), Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer) and Miguel Ferrer (FBI Agent Albert Rosenfield) will also be returning.

As Game Spot reports, David Nevis, the president of Showtime, announced last month that the show's revival would be premiering in early 2017, and it was already well into production.

"I was shown selections and bits. I have not seen an entire assembled episode. There are no assembled episodes yet. This was just to get a feel for various characters," said Nevis. "I don't want to sit here and over-hype, but it was incredibly exciting. It definitely felt like you were in the hands of a master."

Little is known about the storyline of the upcoming revival, but its production has been difficult to say the least: at some point, Lynch even left the project altogether. All seems to be well these days, though, as fans prepare for a good cherry pie and a damn fine cup of coffee!
