Bollywood actor, Irrfan Khan was offered a role in Steven Spielberg's upcoming film, but the Paan Singh Tomar actor rejected the offer as it did not have much scope for him.

Khan is among those Bollywood actors who has worked in tons of international projects like The Warrior, Shadows of Time, A Mighty Heart, The Namesake, Partition, Slumdog Millionaire, New York I love You, Life of Pi, The Amazing Spider-Man and Jurassic World. The National Film Award winner was recently offered Spielberg's next film after Bridges of Spies but the actor found that the character he was offered had no such potential. The 49-year-old actor was quoted by NDTV India as stating:

"I didn't feel the character offered to me gave me much scope. So I said 'no', though Scarlett Johansson is an actor I would have loved to share screen space with."

Apparently this is not the only big budget which Spielberg has said no to. In 2014, Khan was offered a pivotal role in Ridley Scott's The Martian but the actor made earlier commitments with Shoojit Sircar's Piku. While talking about The Martian, Khan was quoted by Hindustan Times as:

"I am disappointed that things didn't work out with him. I wanted to work with him (Scott) before as well in Body of Lies (2008), but things just didn't fall into place. For The Martian as well, I met him and I loved the concept as well. But Piku's second half of the shoot was still pending and I couldn't have left that."

Khan's role from The Martian was later offered to Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Meanwhile, Khan has recently wrapped up the shooting for his next Hollywood movie, Inferno with Tom Hanks. The film is directed by Ron Howard, and is based on Dan Brown's best seller novel of the same name. The film will also feature Felicity Jones, Ben Foster, Omar Sy and other others.

Inferno is slated to release on Oct. 14, 2016.
