One of the most difficult genres to pull off is horror. Well, it is easy scaring people with masked guys carrying knives hunting people down, but how do you make a "good" kind of scary? Maybe The Purge: Election Year's newly released trailer will give you an idea.

Now with this new addition to The Purge series, one would think that this one would be just the same with other two. Well, this one is different. The movie will be centered on Senator Charlene Roan, or just Charlie (Elizabeth Mitchell). Charlie is the lone survivor of a purge that happened 15 years ago involving her family. With that experience, Sen. Roan is outwardly against the annual Purge even though it is a government-sanctioned event. She's in a campaign to outlaw the purging.

As we all know, way back in the very first The Purge movie, purging is a 12-hour legal killing spree for every citizen. The government believed that with this, people will be cleansed of their anguish. And this actually results in a low crime and unemployment rate. Overpopulation is also being addressed especially in an area with a big homeless population.

The Purge predecessors showed us the awful hell innocent and poor people faced during purging. Here in The Purge: Election Year, a bigger scope of the piece will be seen. In The Purge: Election Year, this will be the first time we'll get to see what it would be like from the political side of the movie. Since Purging is sanctioned as legal by The United States, a nation reborn and ruled by the "New Founding Fathers of America" government, this should be interesting.

There are also new faces and crossovers in this film. Frank Grillo, the main actor in The Purge: Anarchy, crossed over and is playing as Charlie's head of security. The last time we saw him, he was a Purger trying to avenge his son's death. Edwin Hodge is also appearing in Election Year. He was the one who saved by the Sandin family, who then became an aggressive fighter in the sequel.

The Purge: Election Year is set to for release on July 1, 2016, just in time for Independence Day weekend.
