Eliot Spitzer, former New York Governor, is currently facing allegations that he attacked a woman on Valentine's Day weekend in a hotel in Manhattan. The alleged victim claimed Spitzer choked her after pushing her down inside a $1,000-per-day room in Plaza Hotel.

Lisa Linden, Spitzer's spokeswoman, stated in a report by the International Business Times that "There is no truth to the allegation."

The New York Post reports that the alleged victim is a Russian woman who goes by the name Svetlana Travis. Emergency services received a call from the woman's cellphone around 8 p.m. on Saturday. Travis told the dispatcher a fight occurred and she sustained injuries on her wrists.

When the police officers came to check the hotel room, sources told the New York Post that the former NY governor informed the police that "Everything's fine. There's no problem." Upon hearing this, the cops left the scene and informed the 911 operator to call back Travis. The woman then told the dispatcher that she didn't need assistance anymore.

Despite the instructions, the officers returned to Spitzer's hotel room where they were able to see questionable items on the floor, including bloodstains, broken glass and clothes. This led to the cops searching the premises.

The Russian woman then showed up once again, telling the officers she required medical attention. At the Roosevelt Hospital where she was treated, Travis informed hospital employees that Spitzer had physically abused her.

Despite what she told the medical staff, Travis did not press charges and Spitzer hasn't been called in for questioning.

Spitzer is no stranger to scandals. Last March 2008, he was accused of patronizing an elite escort service. His ties to high-class prostitutes led to his resignation as governor of New York.
