As the news argues over radical Islamics, Miller and Einstein mock the agents, Scully wasted her career because of her love for Mulder. Miller gets a call from Scully, who wants to meet him in Texas. Mulder calls Einstein, who comes highly recommended by Skinner, and wants to meet her in his office.

Elsewhere, a terrorist is planning his next attack. Einstein meets with Mulder, who believes words and thoughts have weight. He wants her to expand his mind on the material world. To deal with her mother's death, Scully needs to work with Miller on speaking with the ear-dead terrorist. Mulder wants Einstein to administer an illicit drug, but she rejects his life.

Meeting with the near-dead terrorist, Scully plans on triggering his unharmed regions of his brain. Department of Homeland Security has now kicked out Miller and Scully from the hospital room. After Einstein spots Miller and Scully in the same room together, she calls Mulder to meet him in Texas.

The nurse turns the machines back on when Einstein enter the   hospital room. Under the influence of drugs, Mulder busts some moves on the dance floor, hangs out with The Lone Gunmen, and finds himself being whipped by The Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davies). He then listens to the young man, who as a message for him.

As the terrorist group gets ready to strike, Miller talks to the young man. Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) is upset with Mulder, who's found in a hospital bed. Mulder has brought in the boy's mother to speak with him. The boy then dies under cardiac arrest.

Mulder repeats the Arabic words the young man said in his dream, which leads to a hotel. The FBI arrives in time to stop the terrorist group. Einstein is at a loss at how Mulder's idea sparked. As Mukder recuperates, he gets a visit from Scully. They both saw extremes of human nature in the case.

As they hold hands, Mulder hears the trumpets all of a sudden.
