Powerhouse TV producer Shonda Rhimes rules Thursday nights on ABC with three female-led shows. But the queen of Shondaland has revealed in her first TED talk that she compared herself to Beyoncé!

According to People Magazine, during Rhimes' first TED talk last Monday, the creator of Scandal, Grey's Anatomy and How to Get Away With Murder, spoke about her hard work and where it's taken her.

"I work a lot, very hard, and I love it," said Rhimes. "When I am hard at work, when I am deep in it, there is no other feeling. For me my work is at all times building a nation out of thin air, it is manning the troops, it is painting a canvas, it is hitting every high note.  It is running a marathon, it is being Beyoncé -- and it is all of those things at the same time."

As Hello Beautiful reports, the TV writer and producer spoke about how she'd lost her "hum," or her will to do things, for a while before deciding to turn her life around. Working 15-hour days was no longer satisfying, and for a time she stopped loving what she did, so Rhimes decided to switch it up.

As she wrote in her book, Year of Yes, Rhimes set out to reclaim her balance, saying "yes" to everything for an entire year, beginning with playing with her three daughters, a seemingly ordinary act that became extraordinary as she took life in her own hands.

While the better part of her hum comes from work, Rhimes describes it more as "joy" in general toward life.
