Shaq RETIRES Lakers Jersey [PHOTOS/VIDEO]: Shaquille O'Neal Retires No. 34 Lakers Jersey, Long-time Lakers Fan Jack Nicholson on Hand

Basketball legend, Shaquille O'Neal made history again, retiring his No.34 Los Angeles Lakers jersey at the Staples Center Tuesday night.

During half-time at Laker vs Dallas game Tuesday evening, The Lakers, took time out to honor the "big man" who helped them when championships.

"It gets me real emotional. Growing up in Newark, New Jersey, and my father teaching me about the game, always mentioning Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and telling me when I was a young medium juvenile delinquent that, 'If you do things right, son, maybe one day you can be as great as those guys, O'Neil told reporters."

The ceremony included a video montage of Shaq's best laker moments. Former team mate Kobe Bryant said, “The most gifted specimen I’ve ever seen play this game,” said Kobe Bryant in a prepared video.  “Historical, the run we had together.”

Former Lakers Coach Phil Jackson gave a speech after the video. How much fun we had, the wins, the titles,” said Jackson. “For me, Shaquille, I want to thank you for your dedication, leadership and the hard work you put in."

Jeanie Buss, wife of the late Dr. Jerry Buss also spoke at the ceremony. “From the bottom of our hearts we thank you for always entertaining us with your talent, sense of humor and, most of all, the winning,” said Buss. “Now, congratulations, we would like to add you to all the Laker greats.”

O'Neils jersey will hang in the raptors next to Magic Johnson's retired No. 32.

O’Neal played eight seasons for the Lakers from 1996-2004. The team won three titles with the 7-foot-1 center in four NBA Finals appearances, according to KTLA. O'Neils six children and parents and Laker fan Jack Nicholson were at the ceremony to cheer him on.
